Strelitzia, commonly known as the crane flower, has a flowering period that usually occurs in winter due to its flower shape resembling a crane in flight.
It prefers bright light but dislikes extreme heat or cold.
It is commonly found in southern Chinese cities and is also cultivated in greenhouses in northern China.
